About

Reflexology

Reflexology is a complementary health therapy based on the concept that certain points on the feet and hands correspond to the organs, glands and systems in the body. Gently pressing and massaging these points using precise techniques can stimulate energy pathways in the body, supporting the body’s natural ability to rebalance and heal.

A reflexology session is a period of relaxation during which the client has individual attention and supportive touch in an empathetic environment.

Reflexology can be used alongside usual healthcare to promote better health for clients; scientific research is increasingly positive about its benefits. It’s been popular for a long time too… with evidence of similar practices in China, India and Egypt over four thousand years ago.

Who is reflexology for?

In short, everybody can benefit from reflexology, regardless of age or health status. Widely recognised for its calming effects, reflexology can help reduce anxiety and stress, promote relaxation and sleep.

People dealing with chronic conditions such as joint pain, migraine, digestive issues or hormonal imbalances may find reflexology supportive in managing symptoms. Reflexology can help stimulate blood flow and support the body’s natural detoxification processes.

Pregnant women often turn to reflexology to provide support during pregnancy and after childbirth. And anyone who needs a little time out from life will enjoy reflexology as a nurturing space for self-care, helping recharge body, mind and spirit.

What happens in a treatment?

The initial consultation begins with a discussion about your health, lifestyle and any specific concerns. During the session you are seated in a reclining chair or lying on a massage table, fully clothed except for shoes and socks.

After a brief examination of your feet (or hands), the treatment begins. Using specific thumb, finger and hand techniques, a reflexologist applies gentle pressure to reflex points that correspond to various organs, glands and systems in the body. Extra time is spent on specific reflex areas related to your individual concerns.

Throughout the session, the reflexologist may check how you’re feeling and adjust the pressure or focus more on particular areas. A reflexology session is a super-relaxing and nurturing experience… you won’t look back!
